Part of total Hydrocarbon In Place (HCIP) in petroleum reservoir which can be recovered to the surface under specific FDP.
It comprises:
Oil Reserves (OR) | Gas Reserves (GR) |
---|---|
( also called Recoverable Oil ) | ( also called Recoverable Gas ) |
including condensate from natural gas | including solution gas from oil |
The volumetric value of HCR in NTP conditions is given by STHCR:
STHCR = STOR + STGR
The percentage which recoverable reserves STHCR constitute of the total Surface Tank Hydrocarbon Initial In Place (STHCIIP) is called Recovery Factor.
Unlike STHCIIP, which is purely geological concept, the STHCR and corresponding RF depend on the parameters of FDP based on reserves complexity, recovery method, recovery duration and economics.
There are different ways of classifying the hydrocarbon reserves based on their volume and structure.
