Percentage of total hydrocarbon reserves recovered by a given time moment t:

(1) {\rm RF}(t) = \frac{{ \rm V_{recovered \ reserves}}(t)}{{\rm V_{total \ reserves}}}

It always ranges  0 \leq {\rm RF}(t) \leq {\rm EUR} \leq 100 \% and is related to Depletion Factor (DF) as:

(2) {\rm RF} (t) = {\rm EUR} \cdot {\rm DF}(t)

where EUR is Estimated Ultimate Recovery.

The Oil Recovery Factor (RFO) is defined as ratio of cumulative oil production Q^{\uparrow}_O to STOIIP  V_{\rm STOIIP}:

(3) {\rm RFO} = \frac{Q^{\uparrow}_O}{V_{\rm STOIIP}}

The Gas Recovery Factor (RFG) is defined as ratio of cumulative gas production  Q^{\uparrow}_G to STGIIP:

(4) {\rm RFG} = \frac{Q^{\uparrow}_G}{V_{\rm STGIIP}}
