2D-seismic

Scanning for acoustic properties of rocks along a certain line on the surface by generating a low frequency noise at certain point of the line and capturing the acoustic response in array set of sensors along the selected survey line.

The result of survey is pictured as vertical profile with

• x-axis showing a distance along the selected line
• y-axis showing travel time of acoustic wave at normal-incidence or depth (which are related via acoustic velocity)
• colour is showing the acoustic impedance of this part of rocks
