The measurement of a straight line perpendicularly downwards from a reference point at surface:
TVD = TVDSS + Logging_Reference_Elevation
where Logging_Reference_Elevation is elevation measured along a straight line from sea level and usually selected as:
- Rig Floor (as Open Hole Logging Reference)
- Tubing Head Flange (as Production Logging Reference)
