A system of connected pipes and other components, usually run on surface, in shallow ground or over the sea bedding.
There are three major types of Pipelines:
| Gathering Pipeline | A complex network of interconnected Pipeline Components collecting the fluids from many feeding terminals and transporting fluids to the centralized consuming terminal. |

| Distribution Pipeline | A complex network of interconnected Pipeline components distributing the fluids to the consuming terminals. |
| Transportation Pipeline | A linear chain of connected pipes providing a long distance transportation of liquids and gases |
