So that:
- 1,000 m3 of gas is equivalent to 1 m3 of oil
- 1,000 ft3 is equivalent to 178.108 bbl of oil
The above is a widely used practical convention.
The USGS convention is 1 GOE = 6,000 ft3 / 1 bbl
The U.S. Internal Revenue Service convention is: 1 GOE = 5,800 ft3 / 1 bbl
