A physical property that Synonym: Material property = Intensive physical property
A physical property of the material that does not depend on the the amount of the material chemical substance and the way it is measured.
It and is only defined by the material's chemical structure and/or its pressure and temperature under thermal or quasistatic equilibrium.
The material properties are usually measured at laboratories and the current Thermodynamics conditionsare well tabulated within the practical range of pressure and temperature.
Any function of quantifiable quantifiable material property is also a material property.
For the material which is a part of thermodynamic system at Thermal or Quasistatic equilibrium its material properties are fully defined by Pressure and Temperature only. These material properties are usually measured at laboratories and are well tabulated within the practical range of Pressure and TemperatureSome material properties are just numbers (like critical temperature
or critical pressure LaTeX Math Inline body T_c
) and some are functions of pressure and temperature (like density LaTeX Math Inline body p_c
or viscosity LaTeX Math Inline body \rho(T, p)
). LaTeX Math Inline body \mu(T, p)
