In reflection seismology the time taken for a surface-generated seismic wave to reach a subsurface rock layer and return back to the surface.
It is usually measured in milliseconds.
Translating TWT to the actual depth is based on the knowledge of p-wave velocity of each layer on the way from surface to the reflecting bedding.
