Motivation

Definitions

Fluid means liquids and gases.

Below is the list of the most popular fluid types

AbbreviationDescriptionComponents
GASDry GasGas
BOBlack OilWater, oil wth saturated gas, gas
MBOModified Black Oil or Volatile Oilwatwer, oil with saturated gas, gas with oil vapor
EOSCompositional or Equation of Statewater, up to 16 hydrocarbon components

Goals

Predict multi-compositional multi-phase fluid properties in the thermal and hydrodynamic equilibrium as functions of temperature and pressure.

Objectives

  • Assessing the fluid properties from laboratory data

  • Building a fluid model for a user-defined range of temeratures, pressures and fluid composition:

    • density

    • compressibility

    • formation volume factor

    • viscosity

    • specific heat capacity at constant pressure

    • thermal conductivity

    • cross-phase exchange coefficients
