The top component of the Earth's Lithosphere distinguished from the underlying bottom component of Lithosphere by its chemical composition.
It consists of two components:

| Sedimentary Cover | Sedimentary Rocks | 5% of the total Crust thickness |
| Crust Basement | Igneous Rocks | 95% of the total Crust thickness |
| Metamorphic Rocks |
The Sedimentary Cover overlays the Crust Basement but in some areas it may be eroded exposing the Crust Basement to the surface.
