If mediumcontinuum body is disturbed with a compression impulse it will create a strain impulse at some point in space and time it will create a continuous stress variation across the continuum body
which will be decaying both in space and time dissipating its energy to heat.
While propagating through the homogeneuos medium the different frequencies will decay at different rate
