Usually all pressure gauges are calibrated to show "0" value at 1 bar so that:


Pressure (gauge) = 
Pressure (absolute) - 1 bar

and 

Pressure (absolute) = Pressure (gauge) - 1 bar


In order to discriminate gauge pressure values from the absolute pressure, the gauge pressure units are usually augmented with suffix "g":
